Most common cancers
Mot breast cancers are carcinomas.
A carcinoma is a cancer that develops from cells of the epithelium (the protective tissue lining the inner and outer surface of organs or structures).
Breast cancer normally develops in the cells that protect/cover the ducts, or the mammary lobules.
Ductal and lobular carcinomas can be invasive (that move, invading other tissues) or in situ(localized or non-invasive) :
Invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC)
80% of all diagnosed breast cancer cases.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC)
10% of all diagnosed breast cancer cases.
Invasive ductal carcinoma or IDC is the most common type of breast cancer, 80% of all breast cancers are IDC.
OTHER TYPES OF BREAST CANCER:
Inflammatory breast cancer
1-3% of all diagnosed cases.
Paget’s disease
1% of all diagnosed cases.
Triple negative cancer
15-20% of all diagnose cases.
