The period of treatment
A cancer treatment is always a challenging time.
Try to minimize its less positive aspects, and make the best of the changes you will have to make, maybe even develop positive lifestyle habits for the future.
During treatment you will need time to take care of yourself, and this might be an opportunity to acquire a healthier lifestyle with less stress, better diet and even regular physical exercise.
Always remember that most secondary effects are temporary, they will disappear.
You must also remember that they are part of a process that aims to:
- Improve your health
- Reduce the chances of disease recurrence
- In the case of metastatic cancers, destroy any remains of the disease by killing any cancer cell that could have migrated to organs away from the initial tumor site.
During this time it is important to surround yourself with people who not only support you, but also can help to make you more serene and without stress.
Do not isolate yourself. Your medical and nursing teams are also there to help with any doubts, fears or anxieties.
You can feel secure in the knowledge that you are now part of a team that has been chosen for their clinical and human qualities to help cancer patients.
